This Volunteer Week, our school has been a hive of activity as students, staff, and even a special guest joined forces to give back to the community and enhance our school environment.
Cleaning Up Brays Road
For our Big help Out we did a community clean-up, led by none other than the High Sheriff of West Midlands, Douglas Wright MBE! Along with Mr. Wright, our enthusiastic students tackled a section of Brays Road, collecting a whole bag of rubbish. Local business owners were incredibly grateful for their efforts, demonstrating the positive impact even a small act can have.
Spreading the Word and Cheer
Students also visited homes along Brays Road, distributing flyers about our upcoming Summer Fayre – a chance to connect with the community and celebrate all things school! Our Clever Cubs took the initiative further, visiting local residents and presenting them with thoughtful garden gifts of bird seed packs.
Investing in Our School
The spirit of volunteering extended within our school community. Katie, one of our Local Academy Council members came into school to support the initiative by helping classes with planting so that we can make a welcoming school environment.
Partnerships for Learning
We were also thrilled to welcome Isabella-Grace’s Angel charity to our school. These volunteers brought not just their compassion but a generous donation of soft toys that will enrich our curriculum and learning experiences.
A Generational Gift for Inclusion
The week culminated in an incredibly heartwarming gesture by Mr. Wright. Touched by our school’s commitment to inclusivity, he generously donated £3,000 to purchase a new hoist for our swimming pool. This valuable equipment will ensure all students can enjoy the benefits of aquatic activities.
Volunteer Week may be over, but the spirit of giving back will undoubtedly continue to inspire our school community. We are grateful to everyone who participated in our Big Help Out and look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in our community and school!
