Join us on 5th December for the inaugural meeting of the Friends of Brays School! We’re forming a new committee dedicated to making Brays School more inclusive by raising funds for accessible outdoor spaces.

This meeting marks an important step forward as we establish a dedicated group to support our mission of making Brays School more inclusive and accessible for all pupils.

Event Details
📅 Date: Thursday, 5th December
🕓 Time: 4:00 pm
📍 Location: Brays School (A virtual attendance option will be available)

Why This Meeting is So Important
The Friends of Brays School will serve as a formal group to help organise fundraising events, apply for grants, and lead special projects that enhance the school experience for our children. During this inaugural meeting, we’ll elect our first committee members, who will help guide the direction of the group. Establishing this structure allows us to register with Parent Kind, set up a bank account, and begin collecting donations in a fully transparent, organised way.

This meeting will also be an opportunity to showcase our primary goal and show the community exactly what we’re raising funds for. Our first project will focus on creating an accessible pathway to the school’s pond. This new pathway will ensure that all pupils at Brays School have equal access to outdoor spaces, allowing every child to experience the benefits of nature, learning, and exploration in a safe and accessible environment.

Community Support: Special Thanks to The Mount Tavern
We’re thrilled to announce that The Mount Tavern, a much-loved local pub in Sheldon, is supporting us in this fundraising bid. Their backing means so much, and we’re incredibly grateful for their commitment to helping us achieve our goals. Community involvement is at the heart of this project, and we’re honoured to have such a strong local partner on board.

How You Can Help
We warmly welcome parents, guardians, local residents, and anyone who wishes to support Brays School to join us, whether in person or virtually. Even if you’re unable to attend, there are many ways to get involved, from volunteering and fundraising to simply spreading the word about our mission. Every bit of support makes a difference!

Why Accessible Outdoor Spaces Matter
Outdoor learning offers pupils invaluable, hands-on experiences that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. If you’d like to see the impact accessible outdoor spaces can have, take a look at the video Immersive Walks on YouTube, which beautifully demonstrates the benefits children gain from interacting with nature.

Join us on 5th December to help build a brighter, more inclusive future for all Brays pupils. Together, with the support of The Mount Tavern and our wider community, we can make a lasting impact that benefits all our children.
