Overview of RE Provision:
At Brays Special School, we are committed to providing a high-quality Religious Education programme that reflects our diverse community and supports the holistic development of all children. Our RE curriculum is designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring that every child can participate to the best of their ability.
Legal Requirements:
- Statutory Requirement: As a special school, we provide Religious Education ‘so far as is practicable’ for all registered pupils, in accordance with the legal requirements outlined in the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
- Curriculum Framework: Our RE curriculum is aligned with the locally agreed syllabus, which reflects the principal religious traditions in Great Britain, primarily Christianity, while also considering the teachings and practises of other major religions represented in our community. From 2025 it will feature as part of the Understand the World Faculty.
Parental Rights:
- Withdrawal from RE: Parents have the right to withdraw their children from Religious Education. If you wish to exercise this right, please contact the school office for more information on the process.
